Beatbox in Singapore

Beatboxing started in Singapore since 2003. But beatboxing started raising more awareness in 2005. It was that year that the First ever Singapore Beatbox Championship which was organised by 98.7fm was held at the Black Eyed Peas concert, Beatboxer Ryan won in the finals against Bryan. Also, in 19th february 2005, a Mongolian beatboxer JT who was once part of the now disbanded dance crew, T-BOB, showcased his beatbox at Rouge. The performance blew away many of the local enthusiastics. From then, many more beatboxers’s interests were sparked and beatboxing in singapore started growing from there.The Sony Ericsson Beatboxing Competition was held in 2006 and the Channel U Asian Beatboxing Championship was held in 2007 where Beatboxer Jacky Lam brought home the champion tittle. In 2008, Dharni Ng was invited by Beelow to showcase at the 1st International Beatbox Battle Convention in Berlin, Germany.
